Family of NZ fugitive on the run with children pleads for return
Auckland man Adam Turner fails to appear in court
Auckland man Adam Turner, who is on the run in Thailand with his family and is being sought by Interpol, has pleaded for his return to New Zealand.
The 47-year-old failed to appear at his Auckland court hearing on Friday, August 19, and is now considered a fugitive.
Mr. Turner's lawyer, Barry Hart, told the New Zealand Herald that his client had "indicated he'll cooperate with the Thai authorities" and was hopeful of returning to New Zealand.
Mr. Hart said he had received a message from his client on Sunday, August 21, and expected to hear from him again on Monday.
AInterpol has issued a red notice for Mr. Turner but declined to comment on the case further. Mr. Turner is charged with multiple counts of fraud and dishonestly using a document.
The impact of fleeing on his family
Mr. Turner's escape has impacted his wife and three children, aged 14, 12, and 10, who are now also considered fugitives by not returning with him.
