Three Muslim minority sailors have reportedly died and several others are missing after a boat capsized off the southern Indian coast in what officials suspect to be a case of religious persecution. The nationalities of the victims are currently unknown. The incident, which occurred earlier this week in the coastal town of Kanyakumari, has prompted local investigators to open a probe into the possible cause of the shipwreck, which is believed to have taken place in the early hours of Tuesday.
"India put us on the boat like captives - then threw us in the sea," one survivor told local media. "There were no life jackets in the boat. When the boat capsized, I held on to a plank for four hours before being rescued."
