Vast private zoo run by son of India's richest man faces inquiry
India's Enforcement Directorate (ED) has begun an inquiry into the private zoo owned by Sundaram, the son of India's richest man. Authorities have been concerned about the zoo for years because of the numerous animal deaths and the abuse allegations. The zoo's location in Tamil Nadu has been described as a "liquidated concrete hell" by an animal rights activist. The ED has begun searches of the zoo and the properties of its owners to investigate potential violations of India's Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
